Comedy hypnotist Justin Tranz is living the life of a man who has
watched his dream come true. It's a good feeling, a feeling reflected in
the new stockpile of material possessions that are now part of his life.
The Flamingo and O'Shea's performer, one of the few
successful newcomers on the Vegas entertainment scene during the last
year or so, explains. "My dream was to see if I has what it takes
to be a successful performer on the Las Vegas Strip.
The people at "O'Shea's were the first to give
him a shot, and he is still there. As a matter of fact, he did so well
that the entertainment bosses at it's sister casino, the adjacent
Flamingo, drafted him to work there for midnight shows on Friday and
Saturday.
He continues, "When I recently moved into a $1.7
million home on Sunrise Mountain overlooking the Las Vegas Valley I knew
in my heart I has arrived and was here for good. Las year, I bought a
bright yellow Prowler because it is me.
"As for the house, this is my dream home. It has
theater room, waterfalls, exercise, three levels and a balcony
overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. Except for my work, I'm up and away
from it all, living a tranquil lifestyle.
Tranz says he makes a point of being out front to
greet members of the audience when they leave one of his shows. "I
like to see their reaction, and when I see how much fun they had it is
truly rewarding. Las Vegas is truly the entertainment capital of the
world. I want to contribute to the best of my ability. I intend to be
around for a long time. I love what I am doing."
Tranz's West Philadelphia roots are a long way from
the stages of the Flamingo and O'Shea's, where he puts his subjects into
a trance-like state.
He says, "My family moved out to the suburbs in
Delaware County when I was young. They used to take me to the Steel Pier
in Atlantic City.
There was a carnival there and I got my mother to buy
me a Svengali magic deck. That's what started me off in show business,
From there I got magic sets and kept playing with them."
He grins, "I was about 11 when I saw a hypnotist
perform and I thought it would be neat to learn hypnosis so maybe I
could control my parents. What happened is, I went to a store and got a
book on hypnosis., I began to try in out on my friends and became more
and more successful."
But it took him a while to find his spot in show
business.
Tranz attended junior college on a basketball
scholarship and later transferred to Vorhees University in South
Carolina, where he earned a degree in psychology. After graduation, he
returned home and operated a janitorial business that was quickly
grossing $1.5 million a year.
In the meantime, his show business career was coming
along, slowly but surely. The first time he performed hypnosis
professionally was for a sorority at Temple University. "I was into
hypnotherapy big time," he says. "I went to schools all over
the country to learn hypnotherapy and have read every book on the
subject that was ever published. I put an ad in the Yellow Pages and got
a lot of clients, people wanting to lose weight and stop smoking.
"One your body and mind are relaxed," He
explains, "you can achieve what you want."
Tranz says his experience tells him Las Vegas is
ready for major hypnosis show. "There has never been a famous
hypnotist in Las Vegas, and that's my goal. I tie comedy and hypnosis
into an adult show that turns into a party."
